BeyondTrust Releases PowerBroker 6.0

Newest release includes session and file integrity monitoring capabilities

NEW ORLEANS. – June 5, 2013 – BeyondTrust, the security industry's only provider of Context-Aware Security Intelligence, today announced from the TechEd North America Conference 2013 the release of PowerBroker for Windows 6.0, the industry's first identity management solution able to leverage least privilege and vulnerability data scanned by the award winning Retina CS Threat Management Console. This allows customers to take a system's overall risk into context when deciding what level of privileges a user or system should be given. This release also includes new session monitoring capabilities to record, track, or disallow user activity, further policy integration with Retina CS, and a redesigned Windows 8 "metro" theme user interface for more intuitive and easier to use columns and rule identification.

"Security teams more often make critical business decisions based on threats after the fact, regardless of addressing the context of those threats," said Brad Hibbert, Executive Vice President of Product Strategy and Operations at BeyondTrust. "This new product release allows organizations to make more effective security decisions, by delivering the context and monitoring tools to effectively mitigate vulnerabilities and control access in Windows systems."

PowerBroker for Windows is the fastest, easiest and most cost-effective way to secure Windows systems through the implementation of least privilege. It reduces help desk burdens and costs, while increasing the security of the Windows infrastructure. In addition to a recent integration with Retina CS which analyzes vulnerability data to gain actionable insight into Windows systems risk and susceptibility to attacks, new features of Power Broker for Windows 6.0 include:

Session Monitoring

BeyondTrust customers now have the ability to record user activity on a per application basis. This capability is essential in troubleshooting and forensic work, and provides additional context around vulnerability by recording and monitoring user behavior.

File Integrity Monitoring

This feature adds an additional security layer, allowing or denying access to modify files in the directory. Access can be targeted to applications and or users.

Retina CS Policy Deployment

Retina CS can now be used to store and distribute PowerBroker for Windows 6.0 policies. Group policy is no longer required (but may still be used), which provides a single pane of glass for reporting and policy creation via Retina CS.

Redesigned "Metro" User Interface

With a new Windows 8 "metro" theme user interface, customers enjoy a modern look and feel, with more intuitive and easier to navigate dashboards to work from.

BeyondTrust is dedicated to helping their customers meet today's security challenges by providing innovative security and compliance solutions. A common challenge with privilege management is the need to take a system's overall risk into context when deciding what level of privileges a user or system should be given. Leveraging the real-time application events provided by PowerBroker for Windows, the BeyondTrust threat engine's patent pending virtual application scans enable immediate alerting and threat prioritization of vulnerable application usage enabling more proactive remediation of the most critical and vulnerable assets.

Retina CS is the centerpiece of the BeyondTrust vision of Context Aware Security Intelligence which helps organizations answer the most pressing questions in security – what to fix first, what to fix next and why. Retina CS does this through unmatched security intelligence and analytics for an entire IT landscape.
