PRESS RELEASE

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 11, 2009 " AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs, today announced that it is the first company to receive United States Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 certification for its AirMagnet Enterprise integrated sensors that deliver monitoring and analysis of Wi-Fi and non-Wi-Fi RF environments. These dual-band sensors provide organizations with a complete picture of the wireless environment, ensuring there are no security threats or devices impeding optimal performance of the network. The FIPS 140-2 certification applies to the AirMagnet Enterprise A5020, A5023, 5120 and 5123. AirMagnet Enterprise SmartEdge Sensors offer built-in spectrum analysis for indoor and outdoor environments, helping identify and classify sources of security- and performance-related RF interference issues. "FIPS and Common Criteria are usually the topic of discussion when it comes to security standards and certifications for the government. Both are important, Common Criteria focuses on validating the security claims of a product and FIPS takes it a step further and sets an actual absolute security requirement that vendors must achieve," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "AirMagnet has again taken a leadership position to ensure that its integrated Wi-Fi/Spectrum sensors meet the FIPS certification requirements. In the end, this strict testing not only demonstrates the company's commitment to government organizations, but also to the civilian agencies and commercial organizations that require this certification as a means for evaluating security effectiveness." AirMagnet Enterprise 8.5 provides a simple, scalable WLAN monitoring solution that enables any organization to proactively mitigate all types of wireless threats, enforce enterprise policies, prevent performance problems and audit the regulatory compliance of all their Wi-Fi assets and users worldwide. The solution offers complete visibility and control over the wireless airspace, enabling any enterprise to reliably deliver the same standards of security performance and compliance for their wireless networks as they expect from their wired networks. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) issued the FIPS 140 Publication Series to coordinate the requirements and standards for cryptographic modules, which include both hardware and software components, for use by departments and agencies of the United States federal government. Achieving FIPS certification is required before a vendor can file for Common Criteria, an international standard for computer security. The FIPS certification is required to become U.S. Army approved and placed on the U.S. Army Information Assurance Approved Products List (AIAAPL). It is also important in order to meet the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) 8100 directive requirements for WIDS/WIPS products. With this certification, AirMagnet empowers the DoD to enforce a variety of critical network policies, including No Wireless, Compliant Wireless, and Highly Secure Wireless. More information can be found at http://www.airmagnet.com/solutions/federal/. AirMagnet first achieved FIPS 140 certification for its 5010 and 5012 sensors in 2005. AirMagnet achieved FIPS 140-2 certification for its currently shipping 5020 and 5023 sensors in 2007. With FIPS certification complete for 5120 and 5123, AirMagnet's entire sensor product line is now certified. About AirMagnet Inc.
