What are the ten biggest -- and, alas, most common -- Internet security mistakes made by small and midisized businesses, their employees, vendors, family and friends? This list of ten bonehead Net security screwups, from a Canadian IT consultant, does a good job of listing the likeliest of the legion of common and easily avoided security problems.

So why don't we (all of us -- bigbiz makes these same mistakes) avoid them?

Human nature is my guess. Virtually every one of this Top Ten list can be eliminated without excess cost or even time; more than a few require nothing more than clicking an "On" box in an anti-virus or filter program.

Just the sorts of things that're easily put off, forgotten or overlooked -- and just the sorts of things that can bring your business to grief.

Time to turn that Top Ten Screwups list into a "Ten Things To Take Care Of Today" list... unless, maybe, you and your employees have got something better to do?
