PRESS RELEASE

ST. LOUIS, MO. Jan. 31, 2018 Bandura Systems, which pioneered the threat intelligence gateway in part with the U.S. Department of Defense, today pointed to indications that  2017 marked the year the market for threat intelligence gateways (TIGs) began its mainstream ascent in cybersecurity. TIGs, stand-alone threat prevention appliances that can process millions more Internet threat indicators than traditional network security enforcement approaches, help protect corporate networks by blocking known threats and offloading traffic from entering or leaving the network and reducing the number of events that need detection and response.

At the end of 2017, Gartner released a report which states, “By 2022, at least 5% of large organizations will leverage stand-alone threat intelligence gateways to filter malicious traffic at their internet edge, up from less than 1% today.” The report further says, “Over the past two years, network appliances known as threat intelligence gateways (TIGs) have emerged... TIGs are differentiated and disruptive to alternative solutions because they offer massive on-box indicator scale that is not provided by other existing network security solutions. TIG solutions provide granular policy management specifically for detection and enforcement rules related to TI, TI feeds and TI categories with TI policy exception capabilities,” notes Gartner, Inc. in Emerging Technology Analysis: Threat Intelligence Gateways, Lawrence Pingree and Ruggero Contu, November 2, 2017.*

Mirroring industry growth, Bandura Systems reports that it more than quadrupled its 2017 revenue of the company’s PoliWall® TIG, capping a year of strong company growth. Bandura invented the concept of a threat intelligence gateway in order to solve cyber threat problems for the U.S. Department of Defense, and its current PoliWall TIG is capable of identifying and blocking more unique threats at scale—all while being easier to use—than any competitive solution.

“Security professionals have known the power of threat intelligence for years, and larger enterprises have been able to take some advantage of it by investing time and resources that most companies can’t afford,” said Bandura Systems Co-Founder Suzanne Magee. “What’s changed is that Bandura has applied automation and technology to make an affordable, easy to implement threat intelligence gateway that actually reduces the workload on IT staff while significantly increasing threat prevention. Enterprises of all sizes benefit.”

In addition to its revenue and technology growth, Bandura hit the following milestones in 2017:

  • More than 50 issued and pending patents over the company’s existence.

  • AIG Insurance selected Bandura as a service provider for CyberEdge policyholders. With this program, AIG offers cyber insurance policyholders over a certain premium threshold access to a Bandura PoliWall TIG.

  • Locally, Bandura Systems CTO David Maestas was named St. Louis Inventor of the Year and the Missouri Bankers Association endorsed Bandura’s PoliWall TIG.
