LEESBURG, Va., Jun 23, 2016 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PhishMe® Inc., the leading provider of phishing threat management solutions, announced that it has filed suit against Wombat Security Technologies®, Inc. (“Wombat”) in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware for infringing PhishMe’s U.S. Patent No. 9,356,948. A copy of the complaint, filed on June 1, 2016, can be found here.

In 2016 alone, PhishMe has obtained the issuance of five U.S. patents, taking its portfolio to 11 issued U.S. patents and reinforcing its position as a leading innovator in phishing defense solutions. The company fully intends to protect its investments through continued patent filings in the U.S. and internationally and with legal enforcement where necessary.

PhishMe has obtained patents on its technologies including U.S. Patent Nos. 8,719,940, 9,253,207, 9,325,730, and 9,356,948 on the PhishMe Reporter; U.S. Patent Nos. 8,635,703, 8,966,637, and 9,246,936 on benchmarking results; U.S. Patent Nos. 8,615,807 and 9,053,326 on sequential phishing messages; and U.S. Patent Nos. 8,910,287 and 9,262,629 on privacy for campaign email addresses.

The complaint against Wombat is a result of its infringement of the ’948 Patent entitled “Collaborative Phishing Attack Detection,” which covers PhishMe’s Reporter [TM] technologies. Reporter [TM] is a software plug-in that, among other things, improves upon existing phishing prevention systems by adding a user-interface that allows computer users to report suspicious emails to internal security teams or computer systems in a timely manner and improving organizational detection and response time to threats.
