Domain name system (DNS) resolution is a foundational Internet infrastructure service required to connect users to online applications. If DNS systems are down, the connections grind to a halt. The dedicated, carrier-grade Infoblox 4030 DNS Caching Appliance can achieve more than one million DNS queries per second; this is more than 25 times the performance of most legacy solutions. With built-in detailed reporting and blacklisting capabilities, the 4030 systems also automate early detection of certain attacks and disable URLs of attacking servers. Additional security measures built into the appliance, which has a hardened chassis and a custom operating system to prevent root access, include DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) and active monitoring of incoming network traffic to ensure traffic integrity.
