Ways to combat the problem
There are numerous ways to address the problems with fileshares:
  • Enable LanMan Workstation parameters to 1
  • File and Print Sharing should be set to Authentication and Encryption

 

Encrypt File & Printer

When it comes to SMB/CIFS sharing. User can add this to their GPO policies to help address this file/printer sharing issue across the board.
