Predicting the future always tough
While new technology often makes new jobs, it can eliminate them as well.  CAD replaced thousands of individuals who were draftsmen and technical skilled at schematics.  Whole armies of jobs vanished when IBM mainframes began to enter that field.  AutoCad of course became big but that did not make the career niche, just gave others a new tool.  Look at any Amazon warehouse these days and count the number of human being workers on the floor?  So new stuff can kill jobs as well.  Certainly it is an age-killer as the older folk are thus replaced by younger and smart (sometimes) staff.
