Bad strategy?
The fundamental problem here is deserializing untrusted data, not sour components. There are probably an infinite number of gadgets (like the Commons Collection library mentioned) that can be used, so the component strategy is busted. Better solutions use instrumentation like Contrast-rO0 and other free tools.
