Never mount an access control reader on the unsecure side of the door
We have been promoting the idea of mounting our readers on the secure side of the door for many years now because anything with exposed wires can be easily hacked.  Its even worse if the relay is controlling the device directly.  Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQtBgl2Slqg

Car Keys
This is a similar practice to intercepting car keys that have a non-physical interface. But that can be done from a purely wireless standpoint. Im surprised this needs an attached component because most badges do not need to touch the badge reader in order to provide entry.
