One of the things that's great about the IT security industry is that what you look like has no bearing on whether people listen to you or not. It doesn't matter what you wear, how old you are, or where you're from -- if you have a solid point to make, you will usually be heard.

That was me BTW.  Church of Wifi is a tounge in cheek orginization we used for years for a bunch of Wifi researchers and our projects.  We've not done much with it lately, but I want to bring it back.

I was offering to absolve WiFi sins (having used WEP, public or hotel wifi without a VPN, etc) and offering sacrament in the form of Cool Ranch Doritos and cheap Vodka (The body and blood of many a WiFi hacker).  I also ended up doing some baptisms with scotch, hearing multiple confessions, and possibly an exorcism (I had alot of sacrament myself that night)

All in fun, all tounge in cheek.  The sunglasses really did add some 'Father Guido Sarducci' aspect to it, along with the cheap cigar.

I will certainly be back with it next year.  It was the best $30 Ive ever spent.

Right,

Because we should really care about how we look when attending a conference.

Other than to provide for some rather bland content in this blog, I don't really get who would care about how one looks while attending the event.  Certainly not the posers dressed for the part.

 

Perhaps they should combine comic-con with def-con and get serious about dressing up for the (cough) event.

 

Nothing at the conference you can't get from reading.  You can even dress as you please with no worry about how someone will like your fashion.

Okay next year, I'm going to bring at least a half-dozen of my wigs, and switch from turquoise, to pink, to gray, to red, to orange, to green, etc. That'll get me on the next slide show, right?
