Splunk Closes '08 With Record Quarter

IT search company also realizes a year-over-year growth rate of 85%

SAN FRANCISCO " January 28, 2009 "Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced record results for the fourth quarter and year, ending December 31, 2008. The record-setting year witnessed a year-over-year growth rate of 85% capped by the best quarter in company history. In combination with this explosive growth, the company announced 143 new customers and over 42,000 downloads in Q4 2008, increasing the customer count to over 900 enterprise, service provider and government customers using IT Search to troubleshoot network outages, investigate security incidents, and drive compliance. Customer growth was distributed across all geographies and market sectors, including prominent customers such as Thomson Reuters (Global - Financial Services and Media), IBM (Global " IT Services and Software), Live Nation (Global - Entertainment), Jamba Juice Company (North America " Food Service), Otto GmbH & Co KG (the world's largest mail order company), and the University of California, Berkeley (North America " EDU). Accomplishments during the fourth quarter also included two prestigious industry awards and noteworthy press coverage. Splunk was ranked number one in Deloitte's "Technology Fast 50 Rising Star" awards for its rapid growth. In addition, Splunk was named a finalist in the SC Magazine Awards in the category for "Best Integrated Security Solution." Rounding out 2008, Splunk was honored to be named by ZDNet as "One of the Top 10 Most Influential Biztech Products of 2008."

The record-setting quarter included a partnership with F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV) the global leader in Application Delivery Networking. The Splunk and F5 partnership brings the disruptive IT Search and reporting capabilities of Splunk together with the leading application delivery technology of F5. Splunk for use with F5 solutions enables users to meet the complex needs of incident response, threat analysis and compliance and is designed specifically to work with the F5' BIG-IP' Application Security Manager (ASM) and FirePass' SSL VPN solutions. Integration capabilities with these F5 solutions are now available as free downloads, with other F5 product-specific interoperability to follow. In the fourth quarter, Sheren Bouchakian joined as Vice President of Human Resources. In her new role, she is responsible for all HR functions in building the Splunk global team.
