PRESS RELEASE

The new two-factor authentication memory stick from Hiddn Security meets the strict security regulations in NATO, such as FIPS 140-2 Level 3.

Norwegian encryption specialist Hiddn Security provide hardware-based encryption for data at rest. With Hiddn Security’s encryption solutions you can protect highly sensitive information on laptops and memory sticks. The technology is certified by National Institute of Standards and Technology for the strict security levels for sensitive data and data protection laws in the US.

The company is now proud to unveil Hiddn coCrypt, the world’s most secure memory stick with a strong two-factor authentication.

“We have high hopes for Hiddn coCrypt and deem it as the world’s most secure transportation device for sensitive data. This will be highly useful for all those that need to better protect information and data on the move, such as the public sector, within healthcare and armed forces, and enterprises wanting to ensure that data and intellectual property are protected at all times”, says Hiddn Security’s CEO Gudmundur Einarsson.

To access stored data, you need to insert a smart card and use a password. This password may be decided by the user, and contain letters, numbers and characters.

“The Hiddn coCrypt memory stick is especially appealing to those that previously have been restricted from working at home, or from bringing sensitive data to meetings. Our encryption can’t be cracked, and our security mechanisms gives market leading protection to keep data from the wrong hands. One need both the password and a smart card to access the content,” says Einarsson.

This new device will be very important in the next few years when all businesses in EU will have to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or face fines up to €20 million or 4% of their annual turnover of the preceding financial year. The legislation compels anyone who holds data on EU-citizens to implement adequate security measures to protect data from loss or theft.

“Loss of sensitive data can have a devastating effect. It could lead to a hefty fine, the downfall of a business, embarrassment, job losses and adverse media attention. Security is now a matter for the C-level and a topic in the board room,” says Einarsson.

Features and functions:
• Replaceable microSD storage: The microSD memory card resides in a slot and can easily be exchanged with another card providing the user with a virtually unlimited storage capacity. By supporting the SDXC standard, up to 2TB of storage is addressable
• Virus/malware security: coCrypt blocks autorun of applications that might infect a PC with backdoors or malware. coCrypt also blocks firmware upgrade commands from being executed
• Passphrase Authentication: This enhances security by expanding the character set to include not only digits, but also letters and special characters. Users can change their own passphrase. A PUK can reopen the smart card and the user can set a new passphrase. Too many failed attempts to enter a PUK will permanently lock the smart card.
• Easy to use: A bright, easy to read OLED display informs the user about the status of the device and reduces the risk of operator errors

All products utilize secure smart card technology for storing data encryption keys ensuring that no keys can be compromised. Certification according to FIPS 140-2 Level 3 ensures that coCrypt meets the highest standard set for encryption algorithms and data protection.
