RMH Franchise Holdings is warning customers of a point-of-sale (PoS) malware attack at certain RMH-owned Applebee's restaurants. The firm is the second-largest Applebee's franchisee and owns 167 locations in 15 states.
The company recently learned of an incident affecting certain payment cards used at restaurants it owns and operates. An investigation determined unauthorized software was placed on PoS systems to capture card data and may have affected a limited pool of customers.
The names, credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and card verification codes processed during specific time periods may have been affected, and RMH notes the dates vary by location. RMH operates its PoS systems separate from the broader Applebee's network, meaning this incident is limited only to RMH-owned restaurants.
