The Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance hits a new milestone.
The Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance says adoption of its standards grew by 50% in one quarter, with now more than 150 FIDO-certified biometric and second-factor authentication products in the market. The alliance reports substantial growth in the Asia-Pacific region, which it attributes to increased global adoption of FIDO's authentication specifications.
“Fifty percent growth in certified products in just three months is further evidence that the FIDO specifications are increasingly accepted as the new standard for strong authentication technology,” said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance.
According to the FIDO Alliance, the top five global handset manufacturers have updated their devices with FIDO authentication. Google, PayPal, Samsung, among others, also offer FIDO authentication, the alliance said.
