StillSecure Acquires Managed Security Services Provider ProtectPoint Security

StillSecure customers can now access network security options delivered as an appliance, software, or managed security service

(Superior, Colo. " February 9, 2009) " StillSecure, creator of secure network infrastructure software, today announced the acquisition of ProtectPoint Security, Inc., a leading Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP). Based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, ProtectPoint provides managed security services, including firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, anti-spam, anti-virus, and content filtering, to customers worldwide. ProtectPoint is SAS-70 Type II certified, and operates a 24x7x365 Security Operations Center (SOC) staffed by certified security analysts.

As security threats grow more complex, the technologies required to defend against them have become more sophisticated. Managed security services allow organizations to take advantage of powerful security solutions and to leverage security experts as an extension of their staff. StillSecure customers can now access comprehensive, affordable network security options delivered as an appliance, software, or managed security service, all available through a single vendor and tailored to each customer's environment.

According to Gartner, Inc., "75% of enterprises can improve security and lower costs by outsourcing repetitive security functions to a high-quality MSSP. This trend is also being driven by straightforward pressure to reduce spending and headcount, particularly for enterprises that require 24/7 coverage."1 The mid-market is particularly receptive to the MSSP model because staffing full-time, qualified security experts can be challenging and expensive for organizations of this size.

"Our acquisition of ProtectPoint rounds out StillSecure's security offering by adding managed services " a key component for simplifying network security. Security services make it easier and more affordable for organizations to comply with security regulations and best practices," said Rajat Bhargava, President and CEO of StillSecure. "StillSecure and ProtectPoint have identical philosophies in our focus on customer satisfaction as the key to our success. We're eager to roll-out our expanded offerings to new customers, existing customers and partners."

The ProtectPoint managed security services offering complements StillSecure's existing line of NAC, IDS/IPS and vulnerability management products. All ProtectPoint employees will be joining StillSecure. Moving forward, the two companies will more tightly integrate their product lines and services as well as bring new products to market.

"Managed security services are a great option because they ease the complexity of managing, monitoring, and maintaining secure networks," said Steve Harris, Chief Executive Officer at ProtectPoint. "Our expertise and past success in managed security services, combined with StillSecure's extensive background and deep understanding of what it takes to protect some of the largest, most sensitive networks in the world, should make for a very exciting future."
