PRESS RELEASE

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (November 14, 2017) – Skyport Systems, a leading secure hyperconverged infrastructure provider for the hybrid enterprise, announced today the availability and support of Skyport’s SkySecure Hybrid Cloud Edge powered by the latest generation Intel® Xeon Scalable processor and platform technology, giving customers an exceptional security platform and user experience at the edge of their computing environments.

Together with Intel, Skyport’s cloud-native edge architecture is accelerating deployment of hybrid cloud applications, empowering security teams to protect the enterprise and simplifying existing policy and change management procedures. Leveraging Intel technology, Skyport can guarantee the identity and enhance security of all SkySecure edge compute systems, ensuring complete control by the enterprise regardless of the deployment location.

“At the heart of Skyport’s success is ease of use, deployment, and management, helping IT to effectively secure their systems correctly every time, with the visibility to verify it,” said Will Eatherton, VP of Engineering & Customer Success, Skyport Systems. “By designing a new cloud-native edge architecture with trusted Intel server technology, we challenged traditional enterprise operational and security models, and have proved that it’s time for a new approach.”

Rather than trying to manage policy at the firewall, SkySecure uses a unique architectural approach based on deploying application gateways in secure, micro-segmented compartments. This approach delivers stronger security and audit controls, and also ensures the enhanced agility to support DevOps-style deployment. Intel has collaborated closely with Skyport, supplying a more secure and high-performance system based on the Intel® Server Board S2600WFT, from Intel’s latest generation server board family. The Intel Server Board S2600WFT provides the high-performance storage essential for workloads running outside traditional datacenters, where application storage is often run using local storage alongside compute on a converged platform like SkySecure. For security, the Intel Server Board S2600WFT has purpose system management spanning BMC, PCH, TPM, and peripheral busses that enables the cohesive software/hardware platform security lockdown provided by Skyport. Looking forward, Skyport plans to take advantage of integrated Intel® QuickAssist Technology on the chipset to accelerate encrypted network overlays between SkySecure servers.

"Edge compute is an exciting and expanding area that requires a more secure server architecture with highly reliable subsystems,” said Al Diaz, Al Diaz, VP and general manager, Product Collaboration and Systems Division, Intel Data Center Group.  “The latest generation of Intel® Server Boards provide advanced features to enable Skyport to deliver a more efficient, performant and secure turnkey edge solution.”

Currently deployed in over 17 different countries, SkySecure combines secure compute, virtualization, and network security controls to run critical applications, like Microsoft® Active Directory, with less complexity and greater peace of mind. This international expansion is in addition to significant growth in revenue due to rapid adoption by government entities, institutions of higher education, enterprises and SMEs seeking to safeguard their most critical IT and hybrid cloud assets. Hundreds of global customers have found success using SkySecure in their data centers as an ideal solution to push closer to their customers, employees and partners.
