Qualys announced today it's snapping up assets of Nevis Networks, as the cloud-based security and compliance solutions provider seeks to increase its network traffic analysis capabilities and expand into new markets.

As part of the deal, Qualys plans to natively integrate Nevis' network traffic analysis tools into its Qualys Cloud Platform. Nevis' analysis tools are designed to aid enterprises on enforcing networking access controls to business applications, based on the company's policies.

Qualys, which did not disclose the terms of the cash transaction, believes the acquisition will provide it with greater knowledge on passive scanning technologies that in turn will ramp up its move into the endpoint mitigation and response market. Nevis' technology allows company employees and guests, such as contractors and customers, to share network access, while providing the needed controls that are required by regulatory and compliance agencies.
