Jen Weedon

Senior Manager, Threat Intelligence, Facebook

Jen Weedon has built her career looking at how geopolitics influences cybersecurity and how states use the Internet to achieve their objectives. Much of her experience has been in working with or leading teams focused on tracking, disrupting, and predicting strategic security threats.

Weedon currently holds the role of senior manager, threat intelligence, at Facebook, where she and her team work with partners across the company to combat security and integrity challenges with a particular focus on advanced threats and information operations.

"At Facebook I get to work on some of the most fascinating and complicated security challenges out there, and do so with incredibly passionate, talented, mission-oriented partners," Weedon says. "I've been fortunate throughout my career to be able to combine my love of international relations with information security, and it's been no different at Facebook, particularly at this point in time."

Before she joined the Facebook team, Weedon worked on FireEye's strategic analysis team, where she advised private-sector and government organizations on global cyberthreats. She also held leadership positions at Mandiant and iSight Partners.

Weedon has a Bachelor of Arts in government from Smith College and a Master of Arts in public international law and security studies from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She was also a Fulbright fellow in the Ukraine and a Foreign Policy Interrupted Fellow.

Looking ahead at her security career, Weedon's goals include helping to develop and grow the next generation of security experts and to continue getting ahead of emerging threats to users.

"Staying ahead of those who try to misuse our services is a constant effort, and we are always learning," she says. "I've found that ensuring we're looking at a problem from all angles is the best way to mitigate complex threats."

Extroverts?
I have worked with and reported to female coworkers and leaders. The leaders in this article seem to have a common trait of being extroverts, no difference in comparison to their male counterparts. However, a lot of unsung female heros are not extroverts and work diligiently with their team members and customers. They do not want publicity. To me, they are also leaders...
