PRESS RELEASE

Concord, N.H. " November 3, 2009 " Bradford Networks, a proven leader in securing today's heterogeneous networks, today announced its Network Sentry product family " the first network security offering that can automatically identify and profile all devices and all users on a network, providing complete visibility and control. Unlike vendor-specific network security products, Bradford's comprehensive, extensible Network Sentry family addresses the network security challenges posed by today's complex threat environment and the operational demands security enforcement places on IT. Specifically:

  • Protecting the network from unauthorized and at-risk users and devices;

    • Ensuring that confidential network resources are protected;

    • Eliminating endpoint vulnerability;

    • Ensuring that security policies are established and enforced;

    • Maximizing existing investments in security systems and network infrastructure;

    • Provisioning, securing and managing user, device and guest access;

    • Detecting and profiling managed and unmanaged devices; and

    • Automating security actions and policy enforcement to unburden IT staff.

      Adaptive Network Security handles evolving security threats

      The Network Sentry family is based on Bradford's Adaptive Network Security (ANS) platform, the only network security solution that can dynamically adapt to changing security needs by automatically responding and securely provisioning network resources based on pre-established policies. Bradford's Adaptive Network Security platform integrates and correlates network resources, user information and device information to make networks both more secure and more accessible.

      "To address emerging threats effectively, we must tear down the silos we've created in information security," said Neil MacDonald, Vice President and Gartner Fellow. "In order to build Adaptive Security Infrastructure, we must integrate multiple security technologies and increase visibility to the users and devices on the network and combine this with more automation of security processes, leading to improved security levels and lower costs."

      Flexible platform enables customers to select the specific solutions they need today and in the future

      The Network Sentry family consists of Foundation appliances and software-based Solutions and Extensions. Solutions include Access Manager, Guest Manager, Shared Access Tracker and Device Tracker. Extensions include Endpoint Compliance, Device Profiler and Integration Suite.

      The Network Sentry family's flexible structure allows users to customize configurations to best meet their particular environment and security needs, and extend it accordingly as their security needs change. Proven solution sets built upon the Network Sentry family include Bradford's award-winning access management solutions Campus Manager and NAC Director which provide integrated access management, endpoint compliance and security policy enforcement for educational institutions, government agencies and corporations of all sizes.

      In addition to the new solutions, Bradford announced improved management features available in Network Sentry version 4.1, including a new administrative dashboard, easy-to-use configuration wizards, guided task functions and improvements to the Management Server. Expanded agent compatibility and high-availability enhancements round out the feature set improvements.

      Bradford continues to expand proven network security solutions to future-proof customer investments

      "As one of Bradford's early customers, we initially purchased their solution for one purpose: controlling network access," said Bob Velez, Network Administrator at Swarthmore College. "Since then, our needs have changed dramatically as our users have changed and our network has become more complex. This new platform strategy and the new features in Network Sentry 4.1 demonstrate Bradford Network's ability to grow with us, to anticipate what we as customers need, and continually help keep us prepared for the broad range of security issues we might face in the future. Bradford Networks remains a cornerstone of our overall network security strategy."

      "With Adaptive Network Security, Bradford gives organizations the best of both worlds: a network that is both accessible and secure. Our customers gain the insight needed to identify any security issues, and the control necessary to ensure their security processes are followed and policies are enforced," said Frank Andrus, Chief Technology Officer of Bradford Networks. "With this release of Network Sentry, we're introducing a new level of flexibility in securing increasingly heterogeneous network infrastructures. Feedback from our early customers has been outstanding."
