It's still there, in a quiet corner where the cognizanti hoped it would go unnoticed by the great unwashed. No more.

Why Do Workers Steal Data?

I was fascinated by Sharon Gaudin's recent article reporting that 45% of professionals steal data when they leave their jobs. I couldn't help wondering why they do it. A desire to suck up to their new supervisors? A sense of grievance against the company that they're leaving? Or just because they can?

Data Safety -- The Old Fashioned Way

We can all breathe easier. WellPoint, the country's largest managed care firm, has found its missing disk -- the unencrypted one that contains the personal information (including Social Security numbers and medical records) of 75,000 people. It had been lost in transit by UPS. But they found it. Don't you feel better?
