WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Xirrus, Inc., the only provider of high-performance, long-range Wi-Fi products, announced today that Xirrus’ family of Arrays has been Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ for interoperability and Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2™) with extended Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) types. The Wi-Fi Alliance certification program ensures users of the strongest modes of Wi-Fi security and interoperability using today’s advanced enterprise wireless security infrastructure. The Xirrus certification can be found on the web at http://certifications.wi-fi.org/wbcs_ViewCertificate.php?product_id=5065.

“As enterprise environments plan for new and innovative uses of Wi-Fi, including voice and video, proven methods of security are even more important,” said Wi-Fi Alliance Managing Director Frank Hanzlik. “Products and equipment that are Wi-Fi CERTIFIED instill confidence for use in multi-vendor networks and will help accelerate the roll-out of enterprise-wide Wi-Fi networks. Companies such as Xirrus that continue to certify their Wi-Fi products show their commitment to interoperability as the industry continues to advance.”

The latest certifications received by Xirrus cover interoperability across the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standards and wireless security for WPA and WPA2 which provide government-grade security mechanisms for personal and enterprise use. The WPA2 for Enterprise certification program also requires testing across five different EAP types that play a key role in correctly verifying a user’s credentials before granting them access to the network.

“Xirrus is the only power play in Wi-Fi that increases bandwidth, efficiency, and resiliency so that users can unplug from the wired network and conduct their daily business activities via Wi-Fi,” said Kurt Sauter, director of product marketing at Xirrus. “Xirrus is committed to offering our customers a high performance Wi-Fi platform that delivers a wired-like experience over Wi-Fi and does it without forcing customers to install a ‘sea’ of low value, commodity access points.”
