PRESS RELEASE

ATLANTA, May 26 /PRNewswire/ --Stonesoft, a provider of proven, innovative network security solutions, today introduced the new StoneGate(R) FW-1030 appliance with next generation firewall capabilities. This firewall solution provides the highest levels of data security for small enterprises and remote offices combined with StoneGate's built-in high availability features that guarantee always-on connectivity.

With advanced perimeter protection and internal network segmenting capabilities, the FW-1030 prevents computer worms from spreading and contaminating an organization's internal network. In addition, the FW-1030 provides built-in advanced solid-state disk technologies that emphasize reliability and durability. The new appliance uses 50 percent less power compared to similar appliances.

"We are proud to introduce the new StoneGate FW-1030, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of small enterprises and remote offices. These locations often suffer because their security demands fall in between those of a small office and a large office. Our new FW-1030 appliance fills this gap, offering a complete solution to fit today's budgets without compromising the security demands of these organizations," said Paul Johnson, president of Stonesoft Inc.

Next generation of features

The StoneGate FW-1030 introduces a next generation of previously unseen features such as SSL inspection for both client and server protection.

Many Internet services and Websites use encryption to protect their customer data. However, encryption prevents legacy firewalls from adequately monitoring traffic and preventing embedded or hidden attacks. Stonesoft's StoneGate network security solutions eliminate this problem. The FW-1030 safely opens Web traffic encryption and automatically stops hidden attacks. After the traffic has been cleaned, it is encrypted again and sent to the user.

Integrated with the StoneGate FW-1030 are many of Stonesoft's next generation IPS features, such as context sensitive fingerprinting, protocol validation and Denial of Service protection. In addition, the FW-1030 includes Stonesoft's patented Multi-Link(TM) technology which provides seamless network failover in the event of Internet outages, firewall clustering and server load balancing. These technologies can eliminate the need for expensive private connections, like MPLS and load balancers. The FW-1030 provides up to 1.3 Gbps firewall and 220 Mbps VPN throughput performance and 6 x Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces.

Proactive control of network security

Stonesoft is the only vendor to provide a single centralized command center for proactive control of even the most complex networks. This centralized command center - called the StoneGate Management Center - manages the company's entire suite of Firewall/VPN, IPS and SSL VPN appliances for physical and virtual environments, including the FW-1030. This helps IT departments to more efficiently manage their networks and move from purely reacting to more proactively managing their networks. In addition, with the recent debut of StoneGate 5.0, the StoneGate Management Center can also manage third-party device events.

Availability

The StoneGate FW-1030 appliance is available in June 2009.
