Freescale and Qosmos demonstrate deep packet inspection solution for telecom network operators

BARCELONA -- As the world’s telecommunications carriers migrate to packet-based IP protocols, they face a new set of challenges to preserve network security and assure performance integrity across a range of sophisticated end-user applications. To help its customers overcome these challenges, Freescale is readying its multi-core processors to enable a new generation of secure and intelligent application-aware networks.

Freescale and Qosmos are combining the high performance of Freescale’s MPC8572 multi-core processor with powerful Qoala Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and Information Extraction technology from Qosmos. This platform capability will be able to scale from the dual core MPC8572 to Freescale’s forthcoming Multi-core Platform.

"Mobile network operators continue to pursue extensible and scalable methods for traffic monitoring and spam-protection in order to create billable and differentiated networking quality of service," said Jeff Timbs, director of strategic marketing for Freescale’s Networking Systems Division. "Freescale is pleased to work with Qosmos to leverage its world class DPI technology for wireless and wireline IP-based networks."
