WOBURN, Mass. -- Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, today announced the availability of Kaspersky Open Space Security® (KOSS), a complete suite of business products that extends protection beyond the traditional workplace to an increasing mobile and distributed workforce. Along with the release of KOSS, Kaspersky Lab is also releasing the latest versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers, and Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0, all available today.

With laptops making up a growing percentage of corporate workstation purchases, along with the seemingly daily introduction of powerful new mobile devices such as smartphones, corporate computing has crossed over into an undefined open space beyond the corporate firewall. According to analyst firm IDC, worldwide desktop shipments are continuing to slow and notebooks are expected to represent more than half of all client PCs in the next few years.

“Rising laptop shipments are synergistic with increases in mobile workers, this promises a productivity boon and a security burden” said Christian Christiansen, IDC’s VP of Security Products & Services. “As endpoints become more dispersed, security becomes a more pressing enterprise issue. With network perimeters becoming more perforated, IT is challenged to find more ways to protect mobile users and the corporate networks when they reconnect. Approaches like Kaspersky Open Space Security can help customers build a modular defense for mobile and distributed environments.”
