PLEASANTON, Calif. – April 1, 2014 – Ellie Mae^® (NYSE: ELLI), a leading provider of enterprise level, on-demand automated solutions for the residential mortgage industry,  today reported on recent outages that have made Ellie Mae’s Encompass services unavailable to users. 

Ellie Mae has detected unusually high demand for services consistent with an external malicious attack characteristic of a distributed denial of service (DDoS).  The Company has taken actions to isolate the suspicious activity and prevent future unwarranted access.  Ellie Mae’s technical operations teams are continuing their work to restore full functionality for Encompass users. 

There is no evidence of any data breach and the Company confirmed that client data and personal borrower data remain secure. 

Commenting on the situation, Sig Anderman, founder and chief executive officer of Ellie Mae, said:  “We recognize the critical role our services play in enabling our clients to serve their customers and deeply regret the inconvenience and delays they are experiencing.  The performance and security of our platform is our number one priority.  We are doing everything within our power to restore full operations as soon as possible.” 

Ellie Mae has also engaged with third party security forensic specialists to collect evidence to determine appropriate steps with authorities.
