EasyJet, the Swiss discount airline, has announced that 9 million customer email addresses were exfiltrated in what the company is calling a "highly sophisticated cyber-attack." For 2,208 customers, the news is much worse: The airline says that their credit card information was accessed in the attack.

According to reports, EasyJet became aware of the breach in January but only began to notify the 2,208 customers most severely effected in April. Now, the company is beginning to notify the 9 million customers whose email addresses are now in the hands of hackers, with the goal of reaching all affected customers by May 26.
