Collection #1 Is Exhibit 1 as Proof of Compromise Risk
This month, security insider Troy Hunt tipped the security community off to a behemoth collection of stolen emails and passwords floating around the Dark Web. Dubbed Collection #1, this cache of credentials comprises 12,000 separate files and more than 87 GB of data. It's clearly a repository of credentials stolen from many different breaches - and it offers a great piece of evidence as to how attackers collect and collate credentials to help them carry out future attacks.
