MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- AirTight NetworksT, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that it has signed an OEM license agreement with 3Com Corporation. Through the agreement, 3Com will license AirTight's SpectraGuardR Enterprise, SpectraGuard Planner, and SpectraGuard Sentry technologies.

"3Com views security as a critical requirement for the wireless as well as the wired infrastructure," said Rohit Mehra, Director of Product Management, Enterprise Wireless, at 3Com. "After evaluating other product offerings in the wireless intrusion prevention systems (WIPS) market, we chose AirTight because they provided the best fit, complementing our wireless and security portfolios."

"We're excited that 3Com selected AirTight," said David Canavan, vice president of business development at AirTight Networks. "With their market reach, broad portfolio and the market leadership of their TippingPoint IPS in the security segment, we see this relationship helping enterprises as well as SMB customers get the benefit of a comprehensive IPS solution as well as expanding our market coverage."

AirTight Networks' SpectraGuard family of wireless security solutions has established its industry leadership position by delivering the key elements of an effective wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS): -detecting and correctly classifying wireless threats - to catch all threats, while minimizing false alarms -preventing (multiple, simultaneous) wireless threats - while continuing to scan for new ones -accurately locating the wireless threats on a floor map - so they can be removed.

As shown in the February 2006 Tolly Group report, the March 2006 Information Security Magazine review of WIPS solutions, and the May 2006 Tower Group report - AirTight's SpectraGuard Enterprise outperforms its competitors in wireless intrusion prevention functionality.
