Agnitum Licenses Outpost

Bullguard and CAT are licensing award-winning Outpost firewall technology from the computer security experts at Agnitum

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Bullguard Ltd. and CAT today announced they are licensing award-winning Outpost firewall technology from the computer security experts at Agnitum Ltd.

Bullguard (http://www.bullguard.com) specializes in user-friendly PC and mobile security, and will integrate Agnitum's firewall engine into version 7 of the new Bullguard Internet Security Suite.

CAT owns the brand Quick Heal (http://www.quickheal.com), which is India's leading provider of anti-virus software. CAT will re-brand Outpost Firewall Pro to add to the company's 2007 portfolio of anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-spam Internet security tools.

"Security software companies are clearly not abandoning the market to predatory tactics by Microsoft, which entered this market to great debate with OneCare and other products," said Mikhail Penkovsky, Agnitum's vice president of global sales and marketing. "We know from our own and from independent testing that users deserve better - and third-party firms are eager to provide their customers with best-of-breed security tools."

"BullGuard chose Outpost Firewall because of its consistently high scores in our in-house evaluations and the high regard with which the product is held amongst both users and reviewers worldwide. By combining the solid firewall engine technology offered by Agnitum, our user-interface and the unique BullGuard components offered in BullGuard Internet Security, we believe we have one of the strongest PC security suites available on the market today," said Alexander Staun-Rechnitzer, head of the Mobile Division at BullGuard Ltd.

"We are delighted to partner with Agnitum to offer our customers the most advance firewall technology to protect their PCs against most Internet threats," said Sanjay Katkar, chief technology officer at CAT.

These new agreements follow a string of deals under which Agnitum licensed its firewall technology to Novell, Sophos, Lavasoft and Buhl-Data, among others.

"Agnitum entered the firewall market back in 2002 - and it quickly became obvious that Outpost Firewall Pro is one of the technology leaders in the marketplace," said Penkovsky. "Our licensing portfolio grows every year -- and we expect to sign more deals with worldwide security software vendors, just as we expect Microsoft to begin to ship Windows Vista and then patch it after hackers break it open.

"Users demand advanced protection tools," said Penkovsky. "That's why Outpost Firewall Pro technology remains very attractive."
