Google today announced new features in the Chrome browser intended to make autofill more convenient and secure when entering passwords and payment card information.

When you pay with a card saved to your Google Account, the browser requests your CVC code before populating the form with the full card number. Going forward, Chrome will let you enroll your device to retrieve card numbers via biometric authentication. You'll still need to provide the CVC the first time a card is used; after that, you can use biometrics to confirm a credit card.

Google notes this feature is optional and can be enabled and disabled in Chrome Settings. This feature is now available on Windows and Mac and will arrive on Android in coming weeks.

Today's news also includes "touch-to-fill" for passwords, a feature that builds on the Chrome password manager. When you sign in, touch-to-fill will present your saved accounts for the current website. The feature allows one-handed sign-in without scrolling to the login form. Touch-to-fill will also arrive on Android in the coming weeks.
