Security firm Check Point Software Technologies said today that it has acquired cloud email and collaboration security company Avanan and plans to integrate its technology into the Check Point Infinity architecture.

U.S.-Israeli-based Avanan was founded in 2015 and provides technology that blocks malicious emails before they reach the inbox, according to Check Point. Avanan has more than 100 employees, 5,000 customers and protects more than 2.5 million email accounts.

The combination of Avanan and Check Point technologies are aimed at protecting email and collaboration suites including OneDrive, Google Drive, Teams, Share Point, Slack, Box, company said. Check Point has been using Avanan's technology as an OEM for the past three years.

The transaction is expected to close soon. Financial details were not disclosed.
