PRESS RELEASE

April 8, 2010 " Waltham, MA " Bit9, Inc., the pioneer and leader in Application Whitelisting, today announced Bit9 Parity for Symantec Management Platform.

Customers using Symantec Management Platform and Altiris Management Suite are now able to control software installation and execution using Bit9 Application Whitelisting. By adding Bit9 Parity, Symantec customers can now have total control over all software on their endpoints directly from the Symantec Management Console. Symantec Endpoint Protection (Antivirus) customers can also leverage Bit9's Application Whitelisting as a defense-in-depth strategy to enable a proactive security posture. Bit9 Application Whitelisting maintains the integrity of endpoints and gives enterprises the "foundational" layer of security that Gartner advocates is needed to prevent disruptive software and advanced malware.

Using Symantec's Management Console automates management functions within a single console and delivery platform. Leveraging functional and process consolidation, businesses can take advantage of existing investments in Symantec's common management platform to lower IT costs, ensure compliance and secure endpoints.

The Bit9 Parity for Symantec Management Platform integration enables IT Staff to:

* Provision Bit9 Parity clients through the Symantec Management Console * View Bit9 Parity Events and Alerts within the Symantec Management Console * Whitelist (trust) the Symantec Management Platform Software Catalog * Proactively stop advanced malware (Aurora) without Antivirus or behavioral signatures * Assign risk to rogue software not distributed by the Symantec Management Platform * Ensure compliance and the integrity of endpoints by preventing software drift * Reduce support calls and IT costs caused by disruptive software

"Bringing Application Whitelisting into the Symantec Management Platform makes perfect sense," said Eric Ogren, principal analyst at the Ogren Group. "Combining the functions into one console lowers the total cost of ownership and adding the advanced Application Whitelisting capabilities heightens protection against advanced malware for security conscious businesses."

"The combination of Bit9 Parity with the Symantec Management Platform offers a critical layer of control and security within a comprehensive management platform from Symantec," said Doug Cahill, VP of Business Development at Bit9. "IT organizations gain added leverage in the investment they have made in the Symantec Management Platform and Altiris."

Bit9, which joined the Symantec Developer Program in 2008, leverages the Symantec Open Collaborative Architecture to deliver this integration. Bit9 will be participating in the Symantec Vision 2010 Conference April 12 -15 at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. To schedule a demo of Bit9 Parity Suite and the integration, email [email protected] or stop by the Bit9 booth at the conference -- Booth #37.
