PRESS RELEASE

ATLANTA – October 4, 2011 – Network security provider Stonesoft today announced the availability of its new Stonesoft a2Cloud solution. This solution offers secure access to the cloud with unparalleled usability, minimal administration and low total cost of ownership.

Stonesoft is the first to combine SSL VPN security with ergonomic authentication, situational awareness and advanced governance capabilities into a single solution. Stonesoft’s a2Cloud solution delivers secured access to the cloud through multi-factor and multi-method authentication, and is comprised of Stonesoft’s Authentication Server and SSL VPN – both of which are centrally managed by the StoneGate Management Center.

Recent trends such as cloud computing and virtualization have defined new security challenges for CIOs and CISOs, with access and authentication leading the way. As such, organizations are demanding solutions that combine identity and access management with traditional authentication systems. At the same time, organizations need this high level of security to be delivered to end users in a way that feels natural and works seamlessly with the tools they are already familiar with -– namely tablets and smart phones. The Stonesoft a2Cloud solution has been designed to meet these needs.

“a2Cloud solves three major cloud security challenges: secure access, governance and feasibility. If organizations truly want to leverage the power of the cloud, they must be able to give end users a way to conveniently and securely access the applications and information they need from any device. They also have to be able to govern this access so they can easily control who’s accessing which systems. Finally, they have to do all of this in a way that’s easily manageable and doesn’t place a burden on IT resources,” said Matt McKinley, U.S. director of product management, Stonesoft.

a2Cloud Solution

The a2Cloud solution combines the power of Stonesoft’s Authentication Server and SSL VPN with the centralized management capabilities of its Management Center to provide multi-factor and multi-method authentication. The Authentication Server is seamlessly integrated with the Management Center, providing ease of configuration, low TCO, minimal administration and enhanced reporting. It integrates transparently with existing user databases and provides end users with four easy-to-use authentication methods.

SSL VPN is a virtual private network (VPN) solution that can be accessed with a standard Web browser without the need to install specialized client software. The solution features secure and authenticated access to predefined corporate applications from any location and from any Web-enabled device.

Intuitive Authentication Methods

The a2Cloud solution provides four strong authentication methods that are intuitive and convenient to use:

Password - based on username/password pair MobileID Synchronized - dual-factor strong authentication method based on a one-time password generated on MobileID client token software. To generate the OTP, the user types in the PIN. MobileID Challenge - three-factor strong authentication method based on a one-time password generated on MobileID client token software. To generate the OTP, the user types in the PIN and a challenge received by the system. Mobile Text - strong authentication method where a one-time password is sent via a text message.

The SSL VPN also offers additional authentication methods that can be combined to make the authentication process even more secure. For more information on Stonesoft a2Cloud, as well as the company’s comprehensive portfolio of network security solutions, please visit www.stonesoft.com.
