PRESS RELEASE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 22, 2011 - Palo Alto Networks™, the network security company, has announced that BT Global Services, Dell SecureWorks, Solutionary, Symantec and Verizon are now providing managed security services for the rapidly expanding, global footprint of Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall customers. Palo Alto Networks substantially reduces the time and effort required for the initial creation of services and integration with existing system and service management platforms.

Palo Alto Networks provides its partners with a powerful collection of tools and mechanisms that support these service providers across the full spectrum of potential offerings – from relatively low impact monitoring and reporting to comprehensive management of an enterprise's existing network security devices and turnkey arrangements that entail full ownership and responsibility from initial deployment and provisioning onward. Specific examples of these tools and mechanisms include a powerful XML API for management purposes; custom logging capabilities; a reference implementation for a customer portal; and robust provisioning capabilities.

"The Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall represents an outstanding opportunity for service providers looking to offer managed network security services, either individually or as part of a more holistic cloud or customer premise solution," said Punit Minocha, vice president of corporate and business development at Palo Alto Networks. "Through these partnerships, we are able to present customers with a solution that is highly differentiated – in functionality and performance – while is supported by their preferred managed services partner."

Palo Alto Networks: The Established Next-Generation Firewall Market Leader Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewall provides policy-based visibility and control over applications, users and content to over 4,500 enterprises worldwide. Only Palo Alto Networks customers can safely enable applications while scanning this content for threats and potential data leakage.

Palo Alto Networks has fixed the problems associated with traditional firewalls by combining three identification technologies that provide visibility and control over applications, users and content. App-ID identifies exactly which applications are running on the network, as well as the associated risks, so administrators can deploy comprehensive application usage control policies for inbound and outbound traffic. User-ID integrates with enterprise directory services (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory and other LDAP directories) to link network activity to users and groups—not just IP addresses—for application visibility, policy creation, logging and reporting. Content-ID combines a real-time threat prevention engine with a comprehensive URL database to detect and block a wide range of threats, limit unauthorized transfer of files and data, and control non-work related Web surfing.

Information on more than 1,300 applications that are identified by Palo Alto Networks can be found in Applipedia, part of the company's Application and Threat Research Center.
