PRESS RELEASE

COLUMBIA, Md. and CHICAGO, April 9 -- MICROS Systems, Inc., a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce an alliance with Trustwave. MICROS now offers its clients the managed Unified Threat Management (UTM) service and TrustKeeper' 3.0, which will help MICROS clients achieve and maintain compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in conjunction with all of MICROS's PA-DSS validated products.

The PCI DSS is the payment card industry security requirement for entities that store, process or transmit cardholder data, and has been endorsed by all the major card brands " Visa Inc., MasterCard Worldwide, Discover Network, American Express and JCB. Not only does MICROS offer a complete portfolio of 19 different PA-DSS validated products, but for over two years, MICROS has offered its clients tokenization, which assigns a unique identifier, or token, to cardholder data replacing any personal information which would be stored on the point of sale and at risk for data theft. The managed Unified Threat Management (UTM) service enhances the security offered by tokenization. Trustwave's UTM core technology includes a firewall, which regulates traffic that enters and exits the network; gateway anti-virus to stop viruses before they enter a network; Virtual Private Network (VPN) support to ensure confidentiality and security of communication between the merchant and remote employees; and in-line Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) which supplements the firewall to stop attacks at the application layer before it can penetrate network operations. The UTM also helps satisfy requirements 1, 4, 5 and 11 of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard version 1.2.

MICROS and Trustwave will also offer MICROS's merchants the TrustKeeper' 3.0 Web portal which helps streamline compliance validation for all MICROS clients, including non-technical users. Using the dynamic PCI Wizard in conjunction with TrustKeeper Agent, clients work through a personalized, guided interview that reduces the complex terminology of PCI into understandable actions. Further, TrustKeeper Agent ensures merchants aren't storing unencrypted cardholder data or track data.

"By adding security controls to its existing tokenization solution, MICROS is truly defining defense-in-depth by providing merchants a layered security approach to PCI DSS compliance," stated Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "Trustwave's modular approach to technology integration will allow MICROS to add additional security controls and features to the existing managed appliance should the need arise in the future."

"MICROS is pleased to partner with Trustwave to offer an extensive suite of powerful security technology and services to help protect our customers against information theft," stated Jim Walsh, Chief Security Officer for MICROS Systems, Inc. "We have offered our clients a full portfolio of PA-DSS validated products and a tokenization solution for years. The addition of Trustwave's solutions can further increase compliance and reduce the risk of theft. Both small single-site customers, as well as large chains with thousands of locations can benefit significantly from our new Unified Threat Management package of security products and services."
