ARLINGTON, Va., January 5, 2009 -- Cyveillance, a world leader in cyber intelligence, today announced that Blue Coat Systems, Inc. will use the Cyveillance Anti-Phishing and Anti-Malware Intelligent Data Feeds as additional information sources to identify and block Web-based threats. The Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution combines on-premise appliances for policy flexibility with scalable cloud-based defenses and remote user software to provide Web awareness and on-demand intelligence about the latest Web threats across distributed network environments. Blue Coat will utilize Cyveillance Intelligent data feed solutions that are based on unique, real-time intelligence collected by Cyveillance's patented cyber risk monitoring solution and specifically designed for organizations focused on protecting their customers from cyber threats.

"Detecting and protecting against emerging and evolving Web-based threats requires continuous intelligence from a variety of sources," said Mikko Valimaki, chief scientist at Blue Coat Systems. "Cyveillance data feeds give us additional information that we can combine with the Web awareness that we have from our own collaborative cloud-based WebPulse service, to protect users against zero day malware attacks and other Web-based threats."

Phishing attacks are the most common and profitable scams for criminals and can cost organizations and consumers anywhere from tens of thousands to millions of dollars per attack in fraud related losses. The Cyveillance Anti-Phishing URL Feed is a real-time data feed of fraudulent URLs identified and classified as part of online financial scams and identity theft. Blue Coat will also use the Cyveillance Anti-Malware URL Feed, which is comprised of confirmed malicious URLs and includes a high ratio of zero day attacks not found by many anti-virus companies.

"Cyveillance has detected phishing attacks against more than 2,300 brands across dozens of countries and has seen them affect well-known and lesser-known companies alike," said Panos Anastassiadis, of Cyveillance. "We are pleased to work with Blue Coat and provide them with our market leading cyber threat feeds. Our unique ability to gather and process extremely large amounts of data in real-time provides intelligence on phishing and malware-based attacks, enabling companies to mitigate their risk of exposure to these threats."

The Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution is designed to seamlessly deliver the latest advances in protection to any user in any location without requiring incremental investment at the corporate gateway, software downloads or other update cycles. The Blue Coat solution is anchored by the cloud-based collaborative defense WebPulse, which dynamically analyzes real-time URL requests and immediately shares threat intelligence with more than 62 million users worldwide. WebPulse utilizes 16 advanced threat analysis technologies to provide continuous protection against Web-based threats, including anti-virus and anti-malware, custom script analyzers, sandboxing, third party feeds, machine analysis and web correlation tools that provide security intelligence for human raters to validate new Web threats and content.
