DNC Sues Guccifer 2.0, Russian Federation & Trump Campaign for Election Conspiracy

DNC first hacked by Russians in 2015, according to the filing.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) today filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit alleging a conspiracy by Russia, the Trump campaign, and WikiLeaks to tip the 2016 presidential election in favor of Donald Trump. Among the individuals named in the suit are Guccifer 2.0, the Russian Federation, Donald Trump, Jr., Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner.

According to the suit, the Russians first infiltrated the DNC computer system on July 27, 2015, a time frame that previously had not been made public. The forensic investigation, according to the suit, found the system was again attacked on April 18, 2016, and the attackers began exfiltrating documents and data on April 22 of that year.

"In the Trump campaign, Russia found a willing and active partner in this effort" to disrupt and damage the election, while the Trump campaign "gleefully welcomed Russia's help," according to the suit.

The Trump campaign called the lawsuit "frivolous" and said it should be dismissed.
