OBERUSEL, Germany -- Utimaco – The Data Security Company – today announced the release of SafeGuard Enterprise 5.1. This cross-platform security suite for 360-degree data protection of confidential data integrates multiple new functions including flexible policy management for hard disk encryption and removable media, and support of additional smartcard readers, smartcards and USB devices such as the Aladdin eToken. SafeGuard Enterprise 5.0 was initially launched at CeBIT 2007.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.1 ensures data security on all types of end devices, such as desktop PCs and laptops. In addition, data is secured on removable media such as USB flash drives, memory cards as well as rewriteable CDs and DVDs.

The data security suite targets mid-sized to large corporations that need to store and process data across multiple platforms and secure corporate confidential information wherever it resides – at rest, in motion or in use. SafeGuard Enterprise is based on an open, modular architecture that enables scalable security using a central, auditable management module.

This new release also provides greater management flexibility, allowing security policies to be specified for both removable media and hard disk encryption. Different security requirements for removable media, PCs or laptops can be set centrally in the Management Center.

Through the easy and fast integration of varying methods for user authentication, companies have the flexibility to choose their device and/or manufacturer. In addition to the currently supported smartcards, version 5.1 integrates with Aladdin eTokens and Vasco Digipass 860 for user authentication on the device encryption module of SafeGuard Enterprise.

Improved event log filtering via individual filter rules simplifies the analysis of specific, business-critical data security incidents. Administrators can now search even faster and more precisely for specific events while analyzing event logs from SafeGuard Enterprise.

The new version of SafeGuard Enterprise is also available in Japanese. Offering comprehensive support of international keyboard layouts, it enables company-wide implementation across the globe.

“Customers are looking for an easier, more comprehensive approach to managing their dynamic security requirements,” explains Malte Pollmann, Vice President for Products at Utimaco. “The cross-platform capability, central management and greater flexibility provided by SafeGuard Enterprise 5.1 directly addresses those needs. With this release, we are once again raising the bar on what customers can expect from Utimaco.”
