Most survey participants (44%) said they use or plan to use data deduplication for backup and recovery, and another 25% said they use dedupe with archival data; 13% use it with Exchange and e-mail. That makes sense, given how well those apps lend themselves to dedupe technology; it's particularly effective for backup and data recovery, where nightly backups contain large amounts of redundant data.
